My best buddy Spencer mentioned a few weeks ago that he was considering beginning a blog. I perked up: "I almost did that!"
What is "almost," anyway? Lately, I've been realizing that many "almosts" are great opportunities missed because of laziness or petty frustration. I am profoundly thankful I didn't just "almost" move to Colorado, for example. "Almost" is a pitiful investment - to generate an idea, to get so close to following through, then all at once abandon it. More and more I ask myself: "What's the worst that could happen?" The answer is often trivial in comparison to the ideal result. As a young professional I have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Through this blog I hope to gain the following, in order from most to least important: 1. A better sense of my values, personality, temperament, and culture. 2. An increased sense of connection with my family, friends, and colleagues. 3. Personal documentation of my logic sequences for life decisions. I've got a few on the table right now. So despite the initial hassle and continuous labor required to maintain a blog, I'm trying it. Because... What's the worst that could happen???
